At-Home Blood Draw: How Mobile Phlebotomy Works and How to Book One
A licensed phlebotomist can come to your home and draw your blood for an eligible Mito lab order. Here is what it costs, where it is available, and how to request one.
An at-home blood draw sends a licensed phlebotomist to your address to collect your blood sample, so you can complete a lab order without traveling to a collection site. Mito Health offers at-home blood draws for a flat $99 on eligible standard lab orders, in most US states. Availability is confirmed by ZIP code when you request one.
This service is also called mobile phlebotomy. It uses the same standard venous draw a phlebotomist would perform at a Quest, Labcorp, or BioReference location. It is a different service from a mailed self-collection kit, which is covered further down this page.
What is mobile phlebotomy?
Mobile phlebotomy is a blood collection service where a trained phlebotomist travels to your home, office, or another address instead of you visiting a lab. The phlebotomist performs a venous draw, labels the tubes for your specific lab order, and transports the samples to the processing laboratory.
The clinical result is the same as an in-lab draw. The sample type, the tubes, and the analyzing laboratory do not change. What changes is where the needle goes in and who travels.
Mobile phlebotomy is usually priced as a visit fee on top of the tests themselves, because the phlebotomist’s travel time is the cost being covered.
How to request an at-home blood draw from Mito Health
You cannot book an at-home draw before you have an order, because the phlebotomist needs to know which tubes to collect. The sequence is:
- Buy a standard lab test or panel. Start at lab tests and panels. Curated panels and individual markers both qualify.
- Request the draw in your dashboard. Open the appointments section of your Mito dashboard, choose to request an at-home blood draw, and enter the full address where you want the phlebotomist to visit.
- Wait for the availability check. Mito confirms that your ordered tests, your lab provider, your state, and your ZIP code can all be serviced. This usually takes about 4 business days. Weekends and holidays can take longer.
- Pay the $99 fee after approval. The Mito care team contacts you to collect the fee once the request is approved. You are not charged when you submit the request.
- Choose your appointment time. Your dashboard provides a booking link so you can pick a time and confirm the service address.
Your original collection-site appointment stays available the whole time. If the at-home draw is not available for your order or your address, you are not charged the fee, and you can still visit a partner lab.
What an at-home blood draw costs at Mito Health
The at-home collection fee is a flat $99, charged once per visit rather than per test. It covers the phlebotomist’s visit and is separate from the price of the tests you ordered.
Submitting a request costs nothing. The fee is collected only after Mito confirms the draw can actually happen at your address.
Where at-home blood draws are available
At-home blood draws are available in most US states. Coverage is not uniform inside a state, because it depends on whether a phlebotomist serves your specific area, so Mito verifies your exact ZIP code when you submit the request rather than promising coverage in advance.
Two things can make an address ineligible: state rules on where a sample may be collected, and whether the phlebotomist network reaches that ZIP code. If either check fails, you keep the option of a partner-lab visit at one of more than 2,000 Quest, Labcorp, and BioReference locations.
Which Mito orders qualify for an at-home draw
An order qualifies when all of the following are true:
- It is a standard blood test or panel drawn through Quest, Labcorp, or BioReference.
- It has not been scheduled yet, and its lab order form has not been generated.
- Your address passes the state and ZIP coverage checks.
These do not qualify:
- At-home test kits. The seven Tasso+ kits are self-collected, so no phlebotomist is involved.
- Scans, including DEXA and MRI, which are booked at imaging centers.
- Orders already scheduled at a collection site. Canceling the appointment does not make that order eligible, so contact the Mito care team before you change anything.
Submitting a request is not a guarantee of approval. Eligibility is confirmed per request.

Mito offers two ways to give a sample without going to a lab, and they suit different situations.

Choose the at-home blood draw when you want a comprehensive panel, a custom set of markers, or the same venous sample a lab visit would produce. Choose an at-home test kit when you want one of the seven fixed panels with no appointment at all.
How to prepare for an at-home blood draw
Preparation is the same as for a lab visit, with one addition: someone needs to let the phlebotomist in.
- Follow any fasting instruction attached to your order. Fasting tests still require fasting at home.
- Drink water beforehand unless your order says otherwise. Being well hydrated makes the draw easier.
- Have photo ID ready so the phlebotomist can confirm your identity against the lab order.
- Pick a spot with a chair, a table, and good light, and keep the path to your door clear.
- Wear a short sleeve or a sleeve that pushes up past the elbow.
Ask your prescribing clinician before pausing any medication or supplement. Do not stop a prescribed medication to prepare for a test.

Is an at-home blood draw as accurate as going to a lab? Yes. It is the same venous collection, the same tube types, and the same processing laboratory. The only difference is the location.
Can I book an at-home draw before I order tests? No. The request is made from your dashboard after you have an unscheduled lab order, because the phlebotomist collects the specific tubes that order requires.
What happens if my ZIP code is not covered? You are not charged the $99 fee, and your partner-lab appointment stays available. You can schedule at any eligible Quest, Labcorp, or BioReference location.
Can someone else be drawn during the same visit? Each visit covers the person named on the lab order. A second person needs their own order and their own request.
Does the $99 fee cover the tests? No. The $99 covers the collection visit only. The tests are priced separately, and Mito members pay our cost on eligible tests.
