At-Home Blood Draws Are Here: How Mito's Mobile Phlebotomy Works

Mito customers with eligible standard lab orders can now request a licensed phlebotomist to collect their blood samples at home.

A phlebotomist prepares to draw blood from a man seated at home

Mito customers with standard lab orders can now request an at-home blood draw. A licensed phlebotomist comes to your home and performs a standard venous draw, so you can complete an eligible order without traveling to a collection site.

This professional service is a new option alongside Mito’s seven at-home self-collection kits. Both offerings remain available, but they work differently. A professional at-home blood draw uses the same type of venous collection used for a regular lab order. A self-collection kit is shipped to you and uses a Tasso+ upper-arm collector, with no phlebotomist visit.

How to request a professional at-home blood draw

Start by purchasing a standard lab test or panel. Then open the appointments section of your Mito dashboard, request an at-home blood draw, and enter the address where you want the phlebotomist to visit.

Here is what happens next:

  1. Mito reviews your request. We check whether the ordered tests and lab provider support an at-home draw. We also check state restrictions and phlebotomist coverage for your ZIP code.
  2. Your regular lab option stays available. You can still schedule your original collection-site visit while the at-home request is under review.
  3. Carecrew collects payment after approval. If the request is approved, Carecrew contacts you to collect the flat $99 at-home collection fee.
  4. You schedule the visit. After payment, your dashboard provides a link to choose a time and confirm the service address.
  5. A licensed phlebotomist visits your home. The phlebotomist performs the venous blood draw and collects the samples required for your approved lab order.

You are not charged when you submit a request. If an at-home draw is unavailable for the order or address, you will not be charged the home-draw fee. Your regular lab option remains available.

Who can use at-home phlebotomy?

Professional at-home blood draws are an option for adults with standard Mito lab-test and panel orders. Availability is confirmed for each request. The specific order, lab provider, state, and ZIP code must all be serviceable.

Submitting a request does not guarantee approval or an appointment. We usually hear back within 4 business days. Check the at-home testing FAQ and your Mito dashboard for the current process and the status of your request.

At-home blood draw vs. at-home test kit

Mito offers two distinct ways to collect blood at home:

OfferingWho collects the sample? How it works
At-home blood drawA licensed phlebotomistThe phlebotomist visits your home and performs a standard venous draw for an approved standard lab order.
At-home test kitYouOne of seven curated kits is shipped to your home. You use the included Tasso+ upper-arm collector and send the sample to the lab in the prepaid return package. No phlebotomist visits.

Both offerings remain available, and neither replaces the other. Choose a professional at-home blood draw when you have a standard lab order and want to request a phlebotomist visit. Choose a self-collection kit when one of the seven curated kit options fits what you want to test and you prefer to collect the sample yourself.

You can read more about the separate self-collection option in Introducing Mito At-Home Test Kits.
