The lowest price for a coronary artery calcium (CAC) scan among the online platforms compared here is the Mito member price of $249.00. Without a membership, Mito costs $348.60, the lowest non-member price in this comparison, but only $0.40 below Ezra’s $349. This page compares Mito, Function Health, Ezra and Superpower, using the prices each listed on its own website on October 2, 2026.
A CAC scan, also called a calcium score test or heart scan, is a short, noncontrast CT scan of the heart that measures calcified plaque in the coronary arteries. All four platforms sell the same kind of scan. What differs is the price, the membership you need, who arranges the doctor’s order, and what comes with your result.
CAC scan prices compared: Mito, Function, Ezra and Superpower
Prices and terms as listed on each provider’s own website, checked October 2, 2026. “Lowest cost for the scan alone” is the least you would pay if the scan is all you want. Prices change, so confirm the current price with the provider before you book.
Option | Scan price | Membership needed | Lowest cost for the scan alone | Doctor’s order | Who can book | Where | HSA/FSA |

Function and Ezra: the same $349 scan, two ways to book
Function Health and Ezra sell the same Heart CT, a gated coronary artery calcium scan, at the same $349 price. Function’s imaging page says Function and Ezra “have united” to offer MRI and CT, and it tells people who only want imaging to “schedule directly with Ezra.” Booking with Ezra needs no membership.
Booking through Function itself requires a Function membership. That membership does not lower the Heart CT price: Function’s imaging page lists a single $349 price for the Heart CT and shows member pricing only on its MRI scans. So if the calcium score is all you want, Function and Ezra cost the same $349, and a Function membership only makes sense if you want its blood testing.
How a membership changes the price
Two of the four platforms tie their scan price to a membership:
- Mito. Membership is optional. It lowers the scan from $348.60 to $249.00 and costs $9 a month, which you can cancel anytime, or $99 a year. If you only want the scan, one month of membership brings the total to $258. On the yearly plan, the scan and a year of membership come to $348. Members also get a personalized action plan that takes the scan result into account, trend tracking and year-round Concierge support.
- Superpower. The membership is required. The scan is $379 plus $349 a year, so the first year costs $728. The membership includes Superpower’s yearly blood testing, so the total is closer to fair if you would use that testing anyway.
Ezra sells the scan with no membership, and Function’s membership does not change the Heart CT price.
Where Mito is, and is not, the cheapest
Among the online platforms compared here, Mito has the lowest scan price for members ($249.00) and the lowest total for the scan alone ($258 with one month of membership). We think it is more useful to be straight about the limits of that claim:
- Without a membership, Mito and Ezra are close to even. Mito’s non-member price of $348.60 is $0.40 below Ezra’s $349.
- Ezra accepts a wider age range. Ezra offers its Heart CT to adults aged 35 to 85. Mito’s scan is for adults aged 40 to 75 with at least one heart risk factor.
- Local imaging centers and hospitals often sell a CAC scan for less in cash, and they often need an order from your own doctor; our guide to calcium score test cost without insurance covers those prices.
What each price includes
Every platform here sends your scan to a radiologist for reading. The differences are in how fast results arrive, where they land and who talks you through them.
Platform | What the report shows | Results timing | Follow-up |
|---|---|---|---|
Mito | Total calcium score, percentile for your age and sex, and a score for each artery, in your Mito dashboard next to your labs | Usually within 24 hours, officially within 2 business days | If your score is above 0, the testing center contacts you to arrange a call and sends your results to the primary care doctor you named. You can also book a Mito consultation. |
Ezra and Function | Gated CAC score, a radiology report and an Ezra Report in plain language | Ezra Report within 7 to 10 days, radiology report usually earlier (Ezra’s general FAQ, not specific to the Heart CT) | Ezra’s medical provider contacts you about urgent findings. Ezra does not refer you to follow-up care directly. |
Superpower | Total score, a score for each major artery and two percentiles, in the Superpower app | Within two business days | An optional free 20-minute call with a physician from the imaging partner. If your score is above 0, results go to the primary care provider you named. |

Bundled in premium longevity memberships
Some premium longevity programs include heart imaging inside a much larger annual fee, so they are not a like-for-like price for a single scan:
- Human Longevity. Its Executive Health program, listed at $8,000 a year, includes a CT calcium score alongside whole-body MRI and blood testing (Human Longevity pricing).
- Biograph. It lists a CT coronary artery calcium score among the assessments in its one-day program, but its website does not publish a price (Biograph).
- Fountain Life. Its memberships use a coronary CT angiogram (CCTA), a different test that uses contrast dye and also looks at soft plaque, rather than a calcium score (Fountain Life memberships).
How to choose a CAC scan
- If you only want the scan, compare the lowest cost for the scan alone, not the headline price. A required membership can more than double what you pay.
- If you don’t have a doctor’s order, pick a platform that arranges it. Mito arranges the order after a 1-minute eligibility check, and Superpower has a board-certified physician sign it.
- If you are outside the age range, check eligibility first. Mito’s scan is for ages 40 to 75, Superpower’s for 40 and over, and Ezra’s for 35 to 85.
- If you want results next to your blood work, Mito puts the scan report in the same dashboard as your lab results, and members’ action plans take it into account.
- If you want ongoing blood testing anyway, a membership that bundles it can change the math. Price the whole year, not just the scan.
Who a CAC scan is for
A CAC scan is most useful for adults without symptoms whose heart risk is unclear, especially when deciding whether to start a statin. US prevention guidelines recommend it for some people at borderline or intermediate risk (Naghavi et al., 2026).
Mito offers the scan to adults aged 40 to 75 with at least one heart risk factor: high cholesterol or blood pressure, diabetes, a family history of heart disease, a BMI over 25, smoking, or an inactive lifestyle. You can’t have heart symptoms or known heart disease, including a past heart attack, stroke, heart failure or a stent, and you can’t be pregnant.
A CAC scan is a screening test, not a test for symptoms. If you have chest pain, shortness of breath or other symptoms that worry you, call 911 or seek urgent care rather than booking a scan.
Get a CAC scan through Mito
Mito offers a coronary artery calcium (CAC) scan at partner centers nationwide for $249.00 for members and $348.60 for non-members, as of October 2, 2026. The price includes arranging the order, the radiologist’s read and the report in your Mito dashboard, with no separate center or order fee. Read more in our CAC scan launch announcement.

Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest online CAC scan?
Among Mito, Function Health, Ezra and Superpower, checked on October 2, 2026, the Mito member price of $249.00 is the lowest scan price. Mito membership is $9 a month and can be canceled anytime, so the scan plus one month of membership costs $258. Without a membership, Mito costs $348.60 and Ezra costs $349, so the two are close to even.
How much does Function Health's Heart CT cost?
Function Health lists its Heart CT, a gated coronary artery calcium scan, at $349. It is the same scan Ezra sells for $349, and Function's imaging page sends people who only want imaging to book directly with Ezra, which needs no membership. Booking through Function itself requires a Function membership, but the Heart CT price is the same either way.
How much does Superpower's heart calcium scan cost?
Superpower lists its Heart Calcium Scan at $379 plus a $349 yearly membership, so the first year costs $728. The membership also includes Superpower's yearly blood testing, which matters if you would use it.
Do I need a membership to get a CAC scan through Mito?
No. Anyone who passes the eligibility check can buy the scan at the non-member price of $348.60. A Mito membership, $9 a month or $99 a year, lowers the scan to $249.00 and adds your action plan and year-round Concierge support.
Do I need a doctor's referral for an online CAC scan?
Not through Mito. The order is arranged for you after a 1-minute eligibility check. Superpower also needs no outside referral, because a board-certified physician reviews your answers and signs the order. Ezra's pricing and FAQ pages do not say whether you need an outside order for the Heart CT.
Can I pay for a CAC scan with HSA or FSA funds?
Mito and Ezra both list the scan as HSA/FSA eligible. Superpower lists its membership as HSA/FSA eligible but does not say so for the scan itself. Your plan administrator decides what documentation it needs, so keep your itemized receipt.
Is a heart CT the same as a calcium score test?
Usually, yes. Function and Ezra call it a Heart CT, Superpower calls it a Heart Calcium Scan, and Mito calls it a Coronary Artery Calcium (CAC) Scan. Each is a short, noncontrast CT scan that measures calcified plaque in the heart's arteries. A coronary CT angiogram (CCTA) is a different test that uses contrast dye.
