What this test is for
Vitamin B5, or pantothenic acid, is the building block of coenzyme A, which drives the Krebs cycle and the breakdown of fats and proteins for energy. It also supports the synthesis of cholesterol, steroid hormones, acetylcholine, melatonin, and heme. True deficiency is rare because B5 is found in nearly all foods, but when it occurs it has been linked to fatigue, irritability, sleep disturbances, nausea, abdominal cramps, numbness, and tingling in the hands and feet. This serum test measures circulating pantothenic acid, most often ordered to investigate a suspected deficiency or to assess nutritional status alongside other B vitamins. Because deficiency is uncommon in people eating a normal diet, an isolated B5 test is rarely the highest-yield first step in working up vague fatigue.

Where do I get tested?
Choose an available partner lab at checkout. If your cart contains multiple blood tests, Mito helps consolidate the eligible tests at one lab when possible. At-home kits and scans follow the collection or appointment process shown on their product page.
Is this eligible for HSA/FSA?

When will I get my results?
