Pre-test considerations
No fasting required. This is a full 24-hour urine collection: empty your bladder at the start time and discard that sample, then collect all urine for the next 24 hours including the final void at the same time the next morning. Refrigerate the container throughout collection and record the exact start and finish times, since accuracy depends on capturing the complete period.

Urea nitrogen is the waste product of protein breakdown, filtered by the kidneys and excreted in urine. Measured across a full 24-hour collection, it shows how much nitrogen your body is losing each day, which is the basis for assessing nitrogen balance: whether protein intake is keeping pace with protein breakdown. It is used most often to guide nutritional support, including tube feeding and intravenous nutrition, and to evaluate protein metabolism in people who are catabolic or losing muscle. Where do I get tested?
Choose an available partner lab at checkout. If your cart contains multiple blood tests, Mito helps consolidate the eligible tests at one lab when possible. At-home kits and scans follow the collection or appointment process shown on their product page.
Is this eligible for HSA/FSA?

When will I get my results?
