Turkey is a poultry meat eaten widely, and like other meats it can occasionally provoke IgE-mediated food allergy with symptoms ranging from hives and swelling to gastrointestinal upset or, rarely, anaphylaxis. This test measures IgE antibodies to turkey meat, the antibody class that drives immediate allergic reactions. A positive result means sensitization, not a confirmed allergy: a true allergy requires symptoms that track with exposure, so the result is read against your reaction history. The separate turkey IgG test reflects exposure rather than allergy; if your question is whether you are truly allergic, this IgE test is the right marker.
