Thyroiditis Panel
Pairs thyroid function with the autoantibodies that signal autoimmune thyroid disease.
Consider this test if:
- Fatigue, weight change, cold intolerance, hair loss, or brain fog with no clear cause
- An abnormal or borderline TSH and you want to know if it is autoimmune
- Family history of Hashimoto's, Graves', or other thyroid disease
- Planning pregnancy or already pregnant, since thyroid antibodies affect risk
- Tracking known autoimmune thyroid disease alongside function over time

Pre-test considerations
No fasting required. Biotin supplements can distort thyroid immunoassays, so stop high-dose biotin for about 48 hours before the draw. If you take thyroid medication, note the dose and timing, since it affects TSH and free T4.

What this test is for
This panel combines two function markers (TSH and free T4) with the two antibodies that drive autoimmune thyroid disease: thyroid peroxidase (TPO) and thyroglobulin (Tg) antibodies. TSH is the main screening marker for thyroid activity and free T4 measures the available active hormone, while elevated TPO and Tg antibodies point to immune attack on the gland, the hallmark of Hashimoto's thyroiditis and a common finding in Graves' disease. Together they help explain symptom clusters like fatigue, weight change, cold intolerance, hair loss, brain fog, low mood, and irregular cycles, and they clarify whether an abnormal TSH is autoimmune in origin. Positive antibodies can appear before TSH shifts, so this panel often catches autoimmune thyroiditis earlier than function tests alone.
If you only need the antibodies (for example, you already have recent TSH and free T4), the standalone Thyroid Antibodies Panel covers TPO and Tg without repeating function testing.
Biomarkers tested
Includes 4 biomarkers
Free T4 measures the unbound thyroxine circulating in blood, the active thyroid hormone available for cells to pull in and convert into T3, which drives your metabolic rate, body temperature, and energy production. Low free T4 points to an underactive thyroid and pairs with fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance, constipation, and brain fog, while high free T4 suggests hyperthyroidism and tracks with anxiety, racing heart, weight loss, and heat intolerance. Run it alongside TSH to see whether the pituitary and thyroid are communicating properly, which clarifies whether a TSH abnormality reflects true thyroid dysfunction or something upstream.

TSH is the pituitary's signal to the thyroid, rising when it senses too little thyroid hormone in circulation and falling when there's too much. High TSH points to an underactive thyroid, often behind fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance, constipation, dry skin, and low mood. Low TSH points to an overactive thyroid, showing up as anxiety, racing heart, weight loss, heat intolerance, or sleep trouble, and it's the single most sensitive marker for catching thyroid dysfunction before it fully unravels your energy, weight, and cycle.

Frequently asked questions
View all FAQsHow does pricing work?
Every test shows the member price next to the standard non-member price, so you can see what membership saves you. The member price is our cost, covering the lab and what it takes to run the service. It is never a profit on the test itself. Mito makes its money on the $9 membership, not on marking up your tests. Membership is $9 per month, and any applicable lab order or draw fee is itemized before you pay.
Where do I get tested?
Choose an available partner lab at checkout. If your cart contains multiple blood tests, Mito helps consolidate the eligible tests at one lab when possible. At-home kits and scans follow the collection or appointment process shown on their product page.
Is this eligible for HSA/FSA?
Yes. Eligible tests can be paid for with an HSA or FSA card at checkout.
When will I get my results?
Your results appear in your Mito dashboard after the laboratory completes processing. A clinician then reviews them before your analysis and personalized action plan are finalized. Timing varies by test, and specialty assays and at-home kits may take longer.
Do I need a doctor's order?
No. Mito provides the laboratory order when one is required, so you do not need to arrange a separate doctor visit before purchasing.
