What this test is for
Sjögren's antibody (SS-B), also called anti-La, is an autoantibody directed against a nuclear protein and one of the markers used to evaluate Sjögren's syndrome, an autoimmune condition that attacks the glands that make tears and saliva. The classic symptom cluster is persistent dry eyes and dry mouth, often with fatigue, joint pain, and sometimes dry skin or swollen salivary glands. SS-B is found in roughly 15% of Sjögren's patients and almost always appears alongside SS-A (anti-Ro); the presence of both antibodies strengthens the diagnosis and carries prognostic weight. Because SS-B rarely occurs without SS-A, it is most informative when run together with SS-A rather than on its own. A negative SS-B does not rule out Sjögren's, since many patients are SS-A positive and SS-B negative.

Where do I get tested?
Choose an available partner lab at checkout. If your cart contains multiple blood tests, Mito helps consolidate the eligible tests at one lab when possible. At-home kits and scans follow the collection or appointment process shown on their product page.

When will I get my results?
