Reflex testing
If your RPR is reactive, follow-up testing runs automatically: a titer to measure antibody levels and a treponemal-specific confirmatory antibody test to verify the result. Both are included at no additional cost.
Pre-test considerations
No fasting or special preparation is required, and timing during the day does not matter. Very recent exposure can produce a negative result before antibodies rise, so retesting may be needed if infection is still suspected.

What this test is for
RPR (rapid plasma reagin) is a nontreponemal blood test used to screen for and help diagnose syphilis, the infection caused by Treponema pallidum. It detects reagin antibodies that rise during active infection, which is why it is the traditional starting point for both symptom-driven testing (a genital sore, rash on the palms or soles, swollen lymph nodes) and routine screening in pregnancy or higher-risk situations. A reactive RPR is not conclusive on its own: nontreponemal tests can be falsely positive with pregnancy, autoimmune disease, older age, and other infections, and can be falsely negative very early after exposure. That is why any reactive result is confirmed with a treponemal-specific antibody test before syphilis is diagnosed.

It is never a profit on the test itself. Mito makes its money on the $9 membership, not on marking up your tests. Membership is $9 per month, and any applicable lab order or draw fee is itemized before you pay.
Where do I get tested?
Choose an available partner lab at checkout. If your cart contains multiple blood tests, Mito helps consolidate the eligible tests at one lab when possible. At-home kits and scans follow the collection or appointment process shown on their product page.
Is this eligible for HSA/FSA?
Yes. Eligible tests can be paid for with an HSA or FSA card at checkout.
When will I get my results?
