Myositis-Specific 11 Antibody Panel
Targets the antibodies that pin down which form of inflammatory muscle disease you have.
Consider this test if:
- Progressive proximal muscle weakness, trouble climbing stairs, rising from a chair, or lifting arms overhead
- The skin signs of dermatomyositis (heliotrope rash, Gottron's papules) with or without muscle symptoms
- Unexplained interstitial lung disease being worked up for an autoimmune cause
- Elevated creatine kinase or aldolase pointing toward an inflammatory myopathy
- Confirming and subtyping a suspected myositis to guide monitoring and treatment
- HSA/FSA eligible
- Results delivered to your dashboard · Reviewed by a real clinician
- Drawn at a CLIA/CAP-accredited lab near you ·
Pre-test considerations
No fasting or special timing required. This is an antibody panel, so a single serum draw at any time of day is sufficient.

What this test is for
Myositis-specific autoantibodies are highly selective markers that map to distinct subtypes within the inflammatory myopathy spectrum, including polymyositis, dermatomyositis, and clinically amyopathic dermatomyositis. This panel measures 11 of them: the anti-synthetase group (Jo-1, PL-7, PL-12, EJ, OJ) tied to muscle inflammation plus interstitial lung disease, anti-SRP linked to severe necrotizing myopathy, anti-Mi-2 (alpha and beta) seen in classic dermatomyositis skin and muscle features, anti-MDA5 associated with skin-predominant disease and rapidly progressive lung involvement, and anti-TIF1-gamma and anti-NXP-2 which define further dermatomyositis subsets. It is ordered when symptoms point toward myositis: proximal muscle weakness, difficulty climbing stairs or lifting overhead, the rashes of dermatomyositis, unexplained interstitial lung disease, or elevated muscle enzymes like CK. These antibodies are usually mutually exclusive, so a positive result not only supports the diagnosis but predicts the likely organ involvement, with anti-TIF1-gamma in adults flagging the need for cancer screening and anti-MDA5 prompting close attention to the lungs.

Frequently asked questions
View all FAQsHow does pricing work?
Every test shows the member price next to the standard non-member price, so you can see what membership saves you. The member price is our cost, covering the lab and what it takes to run the service. It is never a profit on the test itself. Mito makes its money on the $9 membership, not on marking up your tests. Membership is $9 per month, and any applicable lab order or draw fee is itemized before you pay.
Where do I get tested?
Choose an available partner lab at checkout. If your cart contains multiple blood tests, Mito helps consolidate the eligible tests at one lab when possible. At-home kits and scans follow the collection or appointment process shown on their product page.
Is this eligible for HSA/FSA?
Yes. Eligible tests can be paid for with an HSA or FSA card at checkout.
When will I get my results?
Your results appear in your Mito dashboard after the laboratory completes processing. A clinician then reviews them before your analysis and personalized action plan are finalized. Timing varies by test, and specialty assays and at-home kits may take longer.
Do I need a physician's order?
No. Mito provides the laboratory order when one is required, so you do not need to arrange a separate physician visit before purchasing.
