What this test is for
Anti-Jo-1 is an antibody directed against an enzyme (histidyl-tRNA synthetase) and is the most common of the myositis-specific antisynthetase antibodies. It supports the diagnosis of idiopathic inflammatory myopathy, the group that includes polymyositis, dermatomyositis, and myositis overlap syndromes, and is found in roughly 12 to 20% of myositis patients. A positive result is strongly associated with antisynthetase syndrome, which clusters muscle weakness, interstitial lung disease, inflammatory arthritis, Raynaud's phenomenon, and thickened, cracked "mechanic's hands." The result is interpreted alongside symptoms, muscle enzymes such as CK, and other autoantibodies rather than on its own. A negative result does not exclude myositis, since most cases carry other antibodies or none of the known ones.

Where do I get tested?
Choose an available partner lab at checkout. If your cart contains multiple blood tests, Mito helps consolidate the eligible tests at one lab when possible. At-home kits and scans follow the collection or appointment process shown on their product page.
Is this eligible for HSA/FSA?

When will I get my results?
