Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a cytokine that drives the acute phase response, fever, and immune activation, and it is one of the body's primary signals of active inflammation. Elevated IL-6 reflects an ongoing inflammatory process and is seen in infection, autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, certain tumors, and cytokine release syndromes, including severe COVID-19 where markedly high levels correlate with worse outcomes. In one study of apparently healthy people, the upper reference limit was around 7 pg/mL, so values are read against the clinical context rather than as a fixed cutoff. IL-6 is more dynamic than hs-CRP, which it actually triggers; IL-6 rises first and CRP follows. For routine cardiovascular or general inflammation screening, hs-CRP is usually the more practical marker, while IL-6 is reserved for assessing the intensity of an acute or severe inflammatory response.

It is never a profit on the test itself. Mito makes its money on the $9 membership, not on marking up your tests. Membership is $9 per month, and any applicable lab order or draw fee is itemized before you pay.
Where do I get tested?
Choose an available partner lab at checkout. If your cart contains multiple blood tests, Mito helps consolidate the eligible tests at one lab when possible. At-home kits and scans follow the collection or appointment process shown on their product page.
Is this eligible for HSA/FSA?
Yes. Eligible tests can be paid for with an HSA or FSA card at checkout.
When will I get my results?
