What this test is for
HLA-B27 is an inherited variant of a human leukocyte antigen gene, and its presence is strongly associated with spondyloarthritis, most notably ankylosing spondylitis. It is also linked, more loosely, to reactive arthritis (Reiter syndrome), psoriatic arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease-related arthritis, and recurrent anterior uveitis. A positive result in someone with chronic inflammatory back pain, morning stiffness, or sacroiliac findings raises the likelihood of spondyloarthritis, but the marker is not causative and roughly 10% of healthy people carry it, so it is not a standalone screen and is read alongside symptoms and imaging.
This is the DNA-based detection of HLA-B27, run by PCR. The separate HLA-B27 Antigen test detects the same marker on the cell surface by flow cytometry; both answer the same present-or-absent question, so you do not need both.

Where do I get tested?
Choose an available partner lab at checkout. If your cart contains multiple blood tests, Mito helps consolidate the eligible tests at one lab when possible. At-home kits and scans follow the collection or appointment process shown on their product page.
Is this eligible for HSA/FSA?

When will I get my results?
