Pre-test considerations
No fasting required, and timing during the day does not matter. Antibodies take weeks to develop, so testing very soon after a suspected exposure can miss an early infection. The HCV reflex to PCR runs automatically only if the antibody screen is positive, so no separate order is needed.

What this test is for
This panel checks for infection and immune status across the three viruses behind most viral hepatitis in the US: hepatitis A, B, and C. It measures total hepatitis A antibody, hepatitis B surface antigen, surface antibody, and core antibody, and hepatitis C antibody, with built-in reflex testing so a positive result automatically triggers the confirmatory follow-up. The HCV antibody reflexes to quantitative HCV RNA by PCR, which separates a current, active infection (RNA detected) from a resolved past infection or a false-positive antibody (RNA not detected). It is most useful when liver enzymes such as ALT are unexplained-elevated, after a known or possible exposure, or to confirm immunity from past infection or vaccination.

Where do I get tested?
Choose an available partner lab at checkout. If your cart contains multiple blood tests, Mito helps consolidate the eligible tests at one lab when possible. At-home kits and scans follow the collection or appointment process shown on their product page.
Is this eligible for HSA/FSA?

When will I get my results?
