What this test is for
Hepatitis B virus DNA, quantitative (often called HBV viral load) measures the amount of viral genetic material circulating in your blood, reported in international units per milliliter and as a log10 value. It is the central marker for managing chronic hepatitis B: it shows how actively the virus is replicating, helps decide whether antiviral treatment is needed, and tracks whether that treatment is working. A high or rising viral load signals active replication and greater risk of liver inflammation, fibrosis, and long-term complications, while a low or undetectable level reflects controlled infection or effective therapy. This is a monitoring and quantification test, not a screening test; whether you are infected at all is established first by hepatitis B surface antigen and antibody testing. The log10 scale matters because clinicians watch for changes of one log or more, which represent roughly tenfold shifts in viral activity.

Where do I get tested?
Choose an available partner lab at checkout. If your cart contains multiple blood tests, Mito helps consolidate the eligible tests at one lab when possible. At-home kits and scans follow the collection or appointment process shown on their product page.
