What this test is for
Hepatitis B core antibody (anti-HBc) appears when the body has encountered the hepatitis B virus and persists for life, so it marks anyone who has been infected, whether the virus cleared or is still present. It is not produced by the hepatitis B vaccine, which makes it the marker that separates true past or ongoing infection from immunity gained through vaccination. A positive result is followed up with other hepatitis B markers to determine whether the infection is active, resolved, or in a low-level carrier state. It is commonly checked during liver disease workups, before starting chemotherapy or immunosuppressive drugs (which can reactivate a dormant infection), and when evaluating abnormal liver enzymes or possible past exposure. This item measures total core antibody; the STI serology panel in our catalog includes the same core antibody marker as part of a broader infection screen.

It is never a profit on the test itself. Mito makes its money on the $9 membership, not on marking up your tests. Membership is $9 per month, and any applicable lab order or draw fee is itemized before you pay.
Where do I get tested?
Choose an available partner lab at checkout. If your cart contains multiple blood tests, Mito helps consolidate the eligible tests at one lab when possible. At-home kits and scans follow the collection or appointment process shown on their product page.
Is this eligible for HSA/FSA?

When will I get my results?
