This panel checks your status across hepatitis A, B, and C, the three most common causes of viral hepatitis, using a mix of antibody and antigen markers with automatic reflex confirmation. It covers total hepatitis A antibody (immunity from infection or vaccination), hepatitis B surface antibody (resolved infection or vaccination), hepatitis B surface antigen with reflex confirmation (current, infectious HBV), total hepatitis B core antibody (past or current HBV), and hepatitis C antibody with reflex to HCV RNA (a positive antibody with detectable RNA indicates active infection). It is the panel most often used to work up unexplained elevated liver enzymes or to clarify exposure and immunity history. Results are read together: surface antibody alone, for example, tells you about protection, while a positive core antibody points to actual past or present infection.
