Hazelnut (f17) IgE with Reflex to Component Panel
Screens IgE sensitization across the foods behind most allergic reactions, from tree nuts to shellfish, milk, egg, and wheat.
Consider this test if:
- Hives, swelling, vomiting, or breathing trouble after meals and the culprit food is unclear
- A prior reaction to nuts, shellfish, egg, milk, or wheat you want to map before reintroducing foods
- Managing a child or adult with suspected multiple food allergies
- Planning an allergist evaluation and want IgE data to guide an oral food challenge
- Antihistamines or a skin condition make skin-prick testing unreliable
- HSA/FSA eligible

Reflex testing
If your egg white, cow's milk, or peanut IgE comes back out of range, the matching allergen component panel runs automatically to pinpoint which specific proteins you react to and better gauge reaction risk. This is done at no additional cost.
Pre-test considerations
No fasting required, and antihistamines do not affect a blood IgE result the way they suppress skin testing. Timing of the draw does not matter. Bring a record of which foods triggered symptoms and how quickly, since the result is interpreted against that history.

What this test is for
This panel measures allergen-specific IgE to 15 common food triggers, including hazelnut, almond, cashew, walnut, peanut, sesame, egg white, cow's milk, wheat, soybean, codfish, salmon, tuna, shrimp, and scallop. IgE is the antibody class that drives immediate allergic reactions, from hives and swelling to gastrointestinal symptoms and anaphylaxis. A positive result means sensitization, not a confirmed allergy: many sensitized people eat the food with no symptoms, so results are read against your reaction history. It is most useful when reactions point to more than one food, or when skin testing is impractical because of widespread skin disease, recent antihistamine use, or a history of severe reactions.

Frequently asked questions
View all FAQsHow does pricing work?
Every test shows the member price next to the standard non-member price, so you can see what membership saves you. The member price is our cost — covering the lab and what it takes to run the service — never a profit on the test itself; Mito makes its money on the $9 membership, not on marking up your tests. Membership is $9/mo, and you still pay the lab’s order fee. Prices are itemized before you pay, with no hidden fees.
Where do I get tested?
Choose a partner lab (Quest, Labcorp, or BioReference) at checkout. If your cart spans multiple tests, we consolidate the whole order onto a single lab so you only make one visit.
Is this eligible for HSA/FSA?
Yes. This test is HSA/FSA eligible, and you can pay with your HSA/FSA card at checkout.
When will I get my results?
Your results post to your dashboard once your lab completes them, then a clinician reviews them and your full analysis and personalized action plan (with clear next steps) follow. Turnaround varies by test: specialty assays and at-home kits take longer, and each test shows its expected turnaround before you buy.
Do I need a doctor’s order?
No. Mito provides the lab order for you, so you can book and get tested without a separate doctor visit.
