Gliadin Antibodies (IgG, IgA) Panel
An older serologic marker for gluten-related immune reactivity, used in evaluating celiac disease.
Consider this test if:
- Chronic diarrhea, bloating, weight loss, or unexplained iron deficiency
- Investigating possible gluten-related symptoms alongside other celiac serology
- A family history of celiac disease and gut or absorption symptoms
- Following up an abnormal result with more specific antibody testing
Currently unavailable in your state.

Pre-test considerations
No fasting required. For accurate celiac serology, keep eating gluten in your normal amounts before the test, since cutting gluten beforehand can lower antibody levels and produce a falsely normal result. If you have already removed gluten, discuss timing with a clinician before testing.

What this test is for
Gliadin antibodies are produced against gliadin, a protein fraction of gluten found in wheat, barley, and rye. This panel measures both IgG and IgA antibodies to gliadin, historically used as part of the workup for celiac disease in people with chronic diarrhea, bloating, weight loss, iron deficiency, or a family history of the condition. Elevated levels suggest an immune response to gluten but are not specific to celiac disease on their own, since they also rise in other conditions and in some healthy people. Newer tests (tissue transglutaminase IgA and endomysial antibodies) are more sensitive and specific, so gliadin antibodies are most useful as supporting context or when the deamidated gliadin peptide form is unavailable. The broader Celiac Disease Antibody Panel adds endomysial IgA, which is the more discriminating marker if celiac is the main question.

- Concentration
This test looks for IgG antibodies your immune system builds against gliadin, a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye. A positive result signals an immune reaction to gluten, useful for investigating bloating, diarrhea, fatigue, joint pain, brain fog, or skin rashes that flare after eating bread or pasta. It's often run alongside tTG-IgA and total IgA to build a full picture of gluten sensitivity or celiac disease, especially when the more common tTG test comes back ambiguous.

Frequently asked questions
View all FAQsHow does pricing work?
Every test shows the member price next to the standard non-member price, so you can see what membership saves you. The member price is our cost, covering the lab and what it takes to run the service. It is never a profit on the test itself. Mito makes its money on the $9 membership, not on marking up your tests. Membership is $9 per month, and any applicable lab order or draw fee is itemized before you pay.
Where do I get tested?
Choose an available partner lab at checkout. If your cart contains multiple blood tests, Mito helps consolidate the eligible tests at one lab when possible. At-home kits and scans follow the collection or appointment process shown on their product page.
Is this eligible for HSA/FSA?
Yes. Eligible tests can be paid for with an HSA or FSA card at checkout.
When will I get my results?
Your results appear in your Mito dashboard after the laboratory completes processing. A clinician then reviews them before your analysis and personalized action plan are finalized. Timing varies by test, and specialty assays and at-home kits may take longer.
Do I need a doctor's order?
No. Mito provides the laboratory order when one is required, so you do not need to arrange a separate doctor visit before purchasing.
