What's measured?
Analyzes methylation patterns on cell-free DNA to look for a unique cancer signature. All cells, including cancer growing in the body, shed DNA into the bloodstream, known as cell-free DNA (cfDNA). The Galleri test checks hundreds of thousands of methylation sites covering the most relevant genomic regions in DNA.
When the Galleri test detects what could be cfDNA from cancer, it analyzes the methylation patterns to identify the tissue type or organ associated with the cancer signal. Based on this, the Galleri test indicates the most likely Cancer Signal Origin that can help guide the diagnostic workup to confirm the presence of cancer.
Who should take this test?
The Galleri test is recommended for use in adults with an elevated risk for cancer, such as those aged 50 or older.
The Galleri test is intended to be used in addition to, and not replace, other cancer screening tests your healthcare provider recommends.
Use of Galleri is not recommended in individuals who are pregnant, 21 years old or younger, or undergoing active cancer treatment.
For people 22 to 49 years of age, must have one or more of the following risk factors:
- Smoking
- Cancer survivor
- Overweight or obesity
- Family history of cancer
- Genetic predisposition
- Occupational exposure
- Environmental exposure
- Autoimmune inflammatory conditions
- Non-autoimmune inflammatory conditions
- Immunodeficiencies
- Solid organ transplant
What can I expect from my results?
You will receive your test result about two weeks after your blood sample is received at the GRAIL lab.
There are two possible results:
- No Cancer Signal Detected
- Cancer Signal Detected
Nearly 99% of people who use the Galleri test will screen negative, which is exactly what you want to hear. Continue with routine cancer screening tests your healthcare provider recommends.
If a cancer signal is found, results can predict the tissue type or organ associated with the cancer signal. This vital information can help guide your healthcare provider with the next steps.

You can visit any of our 2,000+ partner labs across the US. Labs are available nationwide, except in South Dakota and Rhode Island. You can view and search the full list of available lab locations before checkout to find the most convenient location for you.
How many lab visits are required?
A single visit is all it takes. Any add-on tests can also be done during the same appointment for convenience. In rare cases, if there are issues with the sample, a second visit may be required.
How long does the lab visit take?
The blood draw itself is quick, usually just a few minutes. Total time at the lab may vary depending on how busy it is. Scheduling an appointment can help reduce wait times.
How do I schedule my lab visit?
You can schedule your lab visit directly through your Mito Health dashboard after you've purchased and set up your account.
Where can I get the BodySpec DEXA Scan done?
BodySpec DEXA Scans are available in California, Texas, and Washington. After you purchase the scan, our team will reach out with scheduling instructions.
How do I schedule a retest?
On your dashboard, select 'Order tests'. From there, you can choose either a full retest or targeted tests recommended by the care team based on your most recent results. Alternatively, chat with Mito Concierge and we'll create a customized panel for you.
I missed my lab appointment. How do I reschedule?
Reach out to us at help@mitohealth.com and we'll guide you through the process. Alternatively, you may walk in to the lab to perform the test. Ensure you bring the Lab Order Form so the lab will know which test to perform — it can be downloaded from the Documents tab on your dashboard.
