What this test is for
Estrone (E1) is one of the body's three main estrogens and becomes the primary circulating estrogen after menopause, when ovarian estradiol production falls. It is made mainly by converting androstenedione in peripheral tissues, especially fat, so estrone tends to run higher with greater body fat and obesity. Levels are checked to evaluate estrogen status across the menopausal transition, to investigate hormone-related symptoms, and to assess estrogen production when ovarian output is low. A rising estrone-to-estradiol ratio is one signal used to characterize menopausal status. For most fertility and cycle questions in premenopausal women, estradiol is the more informative estrogen.
This test measures estrone alone. The separate Estrogens panel reports estrone, estradiol, and a total estrogen calculation together, and the Estrogen Panel adds estriol, which is mainly relevant in pregnancy; choose those if you want estradiol and total estrogen alongside this result.

Where do I get tested?
Choose an available partner lab at checkout. If your cart contains multiple blood tests, Mito helps consolidate the eligible tests at one lab when possible. At-home kits and scans follow the collection or appointment process shown on their product page.
