Hydrochloric acid (HCl) and pepsin are absolutely critical to digestion and nutrient absorption, and without enough, gut-related issues, including occasional heartburn, may occur.
What is the natural solution?
As we age, we produce less digestive acid, leading to occasional heartburn and indigestion. While those with frequent heartburn turn to antacids and acid-blocking medications, occasional heartburn sufferers have other options. Betaine HCl and Pepsin, a protein-digesting enzyme, can provide relief for those with occasional heartburn.
Betaine HCl, on the other hand, uses HCl and pepsin already in your stomach to naturally raise the pH of stomach acid and soothe discomfort.* On top of that, HCl and pepsin have been shown to positively affect the gut microbiome.*
How is pepsin created?
Most supplements contain pepsin from porcine (pigs). Betaine HCl from Enzymedica uses a blend of fungal protease enzymes that act as pepsin—promoting the breakdown of proteins in an acidic environment, but with an entirely vegetarian approach.
