Pre-test considerations
No fasting required. The accuracy depends entirely on a complete collection: discard the first morning void, then collect every urine for the next 24 hours including the final morning void. Keep the container refrigerated (or use the provided boric acid preservative) throughout, and record the total volume. Missed voids or an incomplete day distort the result more than any food or timing factor.

What this test is for
Cortisone is the inactive counterpart of cortisol, the two interconverted by enzymes (11-beta-HSD) that control how much active cortisol reaches your tissues. Measuring it across a full 24-hour urine collection captures total daily output and averages out the large swings cortisol normally shows from morning to night. This is useful when evaluating cortisol excess or deficiency, or how efficiently the body shifts between active cortisol and inactive cortisone, which is relevant in conditions affecting blood pressure, potassium, and adrenal function.
This is the timed-urine form, reflecting cumulative excretion over a day. The separate serum cortisone test is a single point-in-time level, and the combined free cortisol and cortisone urine panel with creatinine is used when both steroids and an excretion-adjusting creatinine are needed together.

Where do I get tested?
Choose an available partner lab at checkout. If your cart contains multiple blood tests, Mito helps consolidate the eligible tests at one lab when possible. At-home kits and scans follow the collection or appointment process shown on their product page.
Is this eligible for HSA/FSA?

When will I get my results?
