No fasting required, and timing during the day does not matter. Recent infection, injury, surgery, or a flare of any inflammatory condition raises CRP and can stay elevated for days, so note any of these when interpreting the result. What this test is for
C-reactive protein is an acute-phase protein the liver releases within hours of inflammation, infection, or tissue injury, and it falls quickly once the trigger resolves. It rises faster and more dynamically than ESR, which makes it useful for catching active inflammation and for tracking response to anti-inflammatory treatment over days rather than weeks. High levels point to infection, autoimmune flares, and inflammatory conditions: it tends to run high in rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn's disease and lower in uncomplicated lupus and ulcerative colitis, which helps in sorting overlapping presentations.
This is the standard CRP assay (reported in mg/L) used to detect and follow inflammation. The separate high-sensitivity version (hs-CRP) measures the same protein at the low end of the range and is the one used to assess cardiovascular risk. It is never a profit on the test itself. Mito makes its money on the $9 membership, not on marking up your tests. Membership is $9 per month, and any applicable lab order or draw fee is itemized before you pay.
Where do I get tested?
Choose an available partner lab at checkout. If your cart contains multiple blood tests, Mito helps consolidate the eligible tests at one lab when possible. At-home kits and scans follow the collection or appointment process shown on their product page.
Is this eligible for HSA/FSA?

When will I get my results?
