What this test is for
Bordetella pertussis is the bacterium that causes whooping cough, a respiratory infection known for a prolonged cough that can linger for weeks and sometimes ends in the characteristic "whoop" or post-cough vomiting. This panel measures three antibody classes the immune system makes against it: IgM and IgA tend to rise during or shortly after active infection, while IgG reflects longer-term immune memory from past infection or vaccination. It is most useful when a cough has persisted for two or more weeks without a clear cause and direct tests like PCR or culture are no longer reliable because the infection is well past its early stage. Interpretation depends on vaccination history, since a single elevated IgG can reflect a prior shot rather than recent illness, which is why the classes are read together and against timing of symptoms. A negative result helps point the workup toward other causes of chronic cough.

Where do I get tested?
Choose an available partner lab at checkout. If your cart contains multiple blood tests, Mito helps consolidate the eligible tests at one lab when possible. At-home kits and scans follow the collection or appointment process shown on their product page.
Is this eligible for HSA/FSA?

When will I get my results?
