What this test is for
Beta-2-glycoprotein I is a blood protein (also called apolipoprotein H) that serves as the key antigen targeted in antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), an autoimmune condition that promotes abnormal blood clots and recurrent pregnancy loss. This test measures IgA-class antibodies against beta-2-glycoprotein I, which can appear in APS and related autoimmune disease such as lupus. Beta-2-glycoprotein I antibodies are more specific for APS than cardiolipin antibodies, which can turn positive in syphilis and other infections.
The IgG and IgM forms are the primary, criteria-defining tests for APS; this IgA form is a secondary marker, most useful when IgG and IgM are negative but clinical suspicion remains, or when lupus is part of the picture. A positive result is interpreted alongside clotting history, pregnancy history, and confirmatory testing repeated about 12 weeks apart.

Where do I get tested?
Choose an available partner lab at checkout. If your cart contains multiple blood tests, Mito helps consolidate the eligible tests at one lab when possible. At-home kits and scans follow the collection or appointment process shown on their product page.
