Pre-test considerations
No fasting required. Collection requires a metal-free (royal blue-top) tube; samples drawn in standard tubes are rejected for metals testing. Recent seafood intake can raise arsenic results because of organic (largely non-toxic) arsenic, so note any high-seafood meals in the days before the draw.

What this test is for
Arsenic is a toxic metalloid people encounter through contaminated well water, certain seafood, rice and rice products, pesticides, and industrial or smelting work. This test measures arsenic in serum or plasma, reflecting relatively recent circulating exposure; arsenic clears from the bloodstream quickly, so it is most informative close to the time of exposure. Elevated levels are investigated alongside symptoms of toxicity, which can include nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, numbness or tingling in the hands and feet, skin changes, and fatigue.
This is the serum or plasma form. The separate whole-blood arsenic test, and the heavy-metals panels that bundle arsenic with lead, mercury, and cadmium, are the more commonly ordered options when screening for metal exposure. For recent ingestion, a timed urine arsenic measurement is often the preferred follow-up.

It is never a profit on the test itself. Mito makes its money on the $9 membership, not on marking up your tests. Membership is $9 per month, and any applicable lab order or draw fee is itemized before you pay.
Where do I get tested?
Choose an available partner lab at checkout. If your cart contains multiple blood tests, Mito helps consolidate the eligible tests at one lab when possible. At-home kits and scans follow the collection or appointment process shown on their product page.
Is this eligible for HSA/FSA?
Yes. Eligible tests can be paid for with an HSA or FSA card at checkout.
When will I get my results?
Your results appear in your Mito dashboard after the laboratory completes processing. A clinician then reviews them before your analysis and personalized action plan are finalized. Timing varies by test, and specialty assays and at-home kits may take longer.
Do I need a physician's order?
