Pre-test considerations

No fasting required. Note any anticoagulant therapy, since direct oral anticoagulants do not affect these specific antibody assays but do interfere with separate lupus anticoagulant testing. Because acute infection, some drugs, and aging can produce transient low-level positives, a positive result should be reconfirmed with a repeat test at least 12 weeks later before APS is established.

What this test is for

Antiphospholipid antibodies target proteins bound to phospholipids on cell membranes and can drive abnormal clotting. This panel measures the three families that matter clinically: cardiolipin (IgA, IgG, IgM), beta-2 glycoprotein I (IgA, IgG, IgM), and phosphatidylserine/prothrombin complex (IgG, IgM). Persistently elevated levels, alongside a clotting event or pregnancy complication, point to antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), a leading cause of arterial and venous thrombosis, stroke in younger adults, and recurrent miscarriage. A single positive result is not enough: low-level antibodies can appear transiently with infection, certain medications, or aging, so confirmation requires a repeat test at least 12 weeks later. Direct oral anticoagulants do not interfere with cardiolipin, beta-2 glycoprotein, or phosphatidylserine-prothrombin testing, though they do distort lupus anticoagulant assays.

    How does pricing work?

    Every test shows the member price next to the standard non-member price, so you can see what membership saves you. The member price is our cost — covering the lab and what it takes to run the service — never a profit on the test itself; Mito makes its money on the $9 membership, not on marking up your tests. Membership is $9/mo, and you still pay the lab’s order fee. Prices are itemized before you pay, with no hidden fees.

    Where do I get tested?

    Choose a partner lab (Quest, Labcorp, or BioReference) at checkout. If your cart spans multiple tests, we consolidate the whole order onto a single lab so you only make one visit.

    Is this eligible for HSA/FSA?

    Yes. This test is HSA/FSA eligible, and you can pay with your HSA/FSA card at checkout.

    When will I get my results?

    Your results post to your dashboard once your lab completes them, then a clinician reviews them and your full analysis and personalized action plan (with clear next steps) follow.
