What this test is for
Antinuclear antibodies (ANA) are antibodies directed against the body's own cell nuclei, and they are the standard starting point when an autoimmune connective tissue disease is suspected. A positive ANA is found in most people with systemic lupus erythematosus and is also linked to Sjogren's syndrome, scleroderma, mixed connective tissue disease, and drug-induced lupus, often investigated when symptoms cluster: joint pain, persistent fatigue, unexplained rashes, photosensitivity, dry eyes and mouth, or recurrent low-grade fevers. A positive ANA indicates sensitization, not a diagnosis: it is common in healthy people, especially at low levels, so it is read against symptoms and confirmatory markers.
This version reflexes automatically when the screen is positive, adding anti-double-stranded DNA antibodies (highly specific for lupus and tied to disease activity) and complement C3 (which falls when active autoimmune inflammation consumes it). The separate ANA by IFA variants report a titer and staining pattern, which is the route when you want the immunofluorescence detail that helps point toward a specific disease.

Where do I get tested?
Choose an available partner lab at checkout. If your cart contains multiple blood tests, Mito helps consolidate the eligible tests at one lab when possible. At-home kits and scans follow the collection or appointment process shown on their product page.
Is this eligible for HSA/FSA?

When will I get my results?
