What this test is for
This test measures IgG autoantibodies directed against your own IgE, one of the immune mechanisms behind autoimmune chronic urticaria. Chronic urticaria, recurring hives with redness and itching lasting more than six weeks, affects roughly 1 to 6% of people, and in a subset the cause is autoimmune: antibodies bind IgE or its high-affinity receptor and trigger mast cells and basophils to release histamine. Anti-IgE autoantibodies are found in about 5 to 10% of chronic urticaria cases, while the related anti-receptor antibody accounts for another 30 to 40%, so a positive result here helps confirm an autoimmune driver rather than an external allergen. It is a diagnostic and management aid for chronic hives that have no clear trigger, not a test for food or environmental allergy. If your hives track with a specific exposure, allergen-specific IgE testing is the more relevant route.

Every test shows the member price next to the standard non-member price, so you can see what membership saves you. The member price is our cost, covering the lab and what it takes to run the service. It is never a profit on the test itself. Mito makes its money on the $9 membership, not on marking up your tests. Membership is $9 per month, and any applicable lab order or draw fee is itemized before you pay.
Where do I get tested?
Choose an available partner lab at checkout. If your cart contains multiple blood tests, Mito helps consolidate the eligible tests at one lab when possible. At-home kits and scans follow the collection or appointment process shown on their product page.
Is this eligible for HSA/FSA?
Yes. Eligible tests can be paid for with an HSA or FSA card at checkout.
When will I get my results?
