What is L-glutamine?
L-glutamine is an amino acid, and amino acids are the building blocks of protein. The various proteins your body synthesizes out of these amino acids are what make up most of the tissue. Bones, skin, muscles, blood vessels, even your hair and nails—all of these require amino acids like L-glutamine and protein in order to grow and be healthy.†
Should I take L-Glutamine before or after a workout?
Both work! Taken before a workout, L-glutamine actually helps satisfy muscles’ demands for glucose and keeps blood sugar from dipping too low, which would result in stress hormone release, i.e. cortisol. Cortisol is a catabolic hormone and actually breaks down muscle tissue. Taken after a workout, L-glutamine is essential to helping repair overworked muscles.†
