What is Prostate-specific Antigen?Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is a protein produced by cells of the prostate gland. A PSA test measures the level of PSA in a man's blood. An elevated PSA level does not always mean you have prostate cancer; instead, it can also be an indicator of various prostate conditions.

How it’s related to your healthspanA PSA test is used as a screening tool for prostate cancer. The higher your PSA level, the higher your risk for prostate cancer. However, PSA levels can also be elevated due to non-cancerous conditions like an enlarged prostate or prostatitis.‍How to optimise your Prostate-specific Antigen levelsTo keep your PSA levels in the healthy range, focus on lifestyle factors that support a healthy prostate.Exercise regularly. Moderate physical activity may help lower PSA levels. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity per week.Eat a plant-based diet. Consuming more fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and plant-based proteins while limiting red and processed meats may help optimise PSA.‍How to analyse your Prostate-specific Antigen levelsUnderstanding your biomarkers can help detect potential health issues early and guide you in making informed health decisions.
